Shoppers are being asked to bring along their own environmentally friendly bags or receive a cloth or paper shopping bag with their purchase.
First-time event co-ordinator Christine Hurford has been a supporter of going plastic-free for a few years now.
“As soon as I took the role of co-ordinator I decided we would go plastic bag-free, and luckily everyone has supported my decision,” she said.
A group of women from the All Saints’ Cathedral have banded together to sew cloth bags for stallholders as well as creating vegie bags with net curtaining.
Plastic bags are slowly being phased out of NSW, so getting in early was a priority for Mrs Hurford.
“I have been a plastic bag-free shopper for a long time now, so I agree that they have to get rid of them as soon as possible,” she said.
The spring fair will include trash and treasure, plants, books and collectables stalls.
There will be morning tea and coffee, as well as a barbecue lunch. Stalls will also sell jams, chutneys and cakes, with a gluten-free section.
The fair will be held from 9am to 1pm at All Saints’ Cathedral in Church Street on Saturday, November 4.
