While the ranks of the Wallabies include those who have represented their country and others who tackle gruelling Ironman events, the club has also worked to highlight that triathlon is a sport anyone can get involved in.
“Our mission continues to encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate in our great sport. We promote a healthy lifestyle and positive attitude and believe that anybody can take part,” president James Kelly said.
“The club provides a safe and supportive environment where people can challenge themselves at their level.
“We do this by running our race series, which provides a framework for our more serious athletes to hone their skills and those of all abilities to compete alongside them.
“We are proud to say that those more serious athletes who compete on the national and international stage were always with us at the end of the day to cheer those new to the sport home.”
The first of six rounds will be staged by the club this Sunday. Seniors can tackle a short course (300 metre swim, 16.5km cycle, 2.5km run) or long course race (500m swim, 16.5km cycle, 5km) and can compete in a team if there is a leg they do not wish to complete.
Senior briefing is at 7.45am for an 8am start with races designed for juniors to follow at 9.30am.
