The Austracana Travelling Revue features three groups who play a variety of styles including: bluegrass, folk, gospel, the odd murder ballad, traditional Australian country and west coast ’70s country rock.

The series of predominantly acoustic shows include: Carpenter Caswell, Smith & Jones, The April Family and a short opening set by Allan Caswell.

Sophie Jones, from Smith & Jones, said the format of the show was a true revue played out over two 75 minute sets.

“Each act will showcase their own material, as well as communal performances between the ensembles,” she said.

Carpenter Caswell is a new duo, but in name only.

Allan Caswell is among Australia’s most recorded songwriters in any genre, with a career that spans more than four decades in the country music world.

As an artist his much-celebrated career continues to evolve, including this new collaboration with Michael Carpenter.

Mr Carpenter himself is no stranger to the Australian music scene, the singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer/engineer has more than three decades of involvement in the industry.

Smith & Jones are a duo from Bathurst who play an undefinable mix of original country, folk and jazz, with a unique emotive power.

Their debut album, Dark Gives Way, has resulted in two number one singles on the Australian Country Radio charts.

The April Family is a Sydney based trio who have been quietly building a repertoire and versatile live show during the past 18 months.

The ensemble claim to be a “mix of the Dixie Chicks meets Fleetwood Mac, via Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash”.

They have three Top 10 Australian Country Radio singles, and a debut album called What We Know Now.

Allan Caswell will open the show and help MC proceedings through the evening.

The Austracana Travelling Revue will play at the The Agrestic Grocer in Orange on Saturday at 6.30pm, and at then Two Heads Brewing in Bathurst on Sunday from 12-4pm.
