Featuring a mix of Orange, Lithgow and Bathurst teams, the Royal Hotel Cup will see nine cricket clubs battle it out for the next five months in cricket’s shortest form.

All games will be played at Orange’s Wade Park. 

Sellers said ORC’s playing style will suit the format of the game.

“We’re better in the shorter form of the game. We like getting runs fast and early,” he said.

“We just have to be mindful of our wicket. We’ve been working on improving our field game in the last few weeks. 

“We need to be sharper and safer.”

Sellers also gave an honest opinion about his opponents, saying he “doesn’t know a thing” about the Kinross team. 

ORC are coming off a six-wicket loss to Bathurst City in its opening round match on Saturday.

The team will be backing up this Saturday when they play winless City Colts. 

This year will be the first time ORC has competed in the Royal Hotel Cup and local rivals Bathurst City and Centennials will also partaking in the competition.

Bathurst City competed in the 2016-17 edition of the Royal Hotel Cup. 

Sellers praised the competition.

“I’m loving it. It’s the way of the future,” he said.

“The team is really keen. [Bathurst] has a Monday night Twenty20 competition but it’s more casual.

“The idea for this is to be a bit latter on in the afternoon, so we can finish work in time.

“We’ll be taking a bus over and making a night of it.”

ORC will be without Brad Glasson, who injured a finger at work.

In the opening round of the Royal Hotel Cup on October 13, Orange City defeated Bathurst City by seven wickets.

The final match of the opening round will be played on October 27, when Orange side Centrals face Bathurst’s Centennials. 

ORC’s next game in the competition is not until November 15 and ORC’s game against Kinross is expected to get underway at 6.30pm.
