St Pat’s played impressively in their 61-run win over Rugby Union last Saturday and looked a completely different team that won none of their opening seven games last season.
It may only be early days but Saturday’s game will be a top of the table clash as St Pat’s sit in first and Bathurst City in second on the ladder.
It was thanks to the inspirational batting and bowling of 16-year-old Nic Broes that St Pat’s looked so good on Saturday and his ton has helped the rising star’s confidence.
“I feeling very happy [about my cricket] at the moment,” he said.
“I’m hitting the ball well and I’m feeling really confident. At the end of last year, I was struggle a bit so it was good to get some runs.
“It was my first [century] in first grade so it was pretty special.
“It was a big effort last week and it was good to get the win.
“The team is batting all the way down.”
Redbacks will prove a testing challenge for St Pat’s this weekend and Broes is aware of some of the the team’s key players.
“Ben Orme does well if the ball and keeps it sharp,” he said.
“They’re bowling line and length consistently.”
However, Broes is confident his team can match it with the defending champions.
“We have the top four bowlers in the Central West,” he said.
“If Pat’s bring their best on the day we can match it with anyone in the competition.”
While Broes belted 111 runs and took 3-16 on Saturday for a man of the match performance.

The 16-year-old then backed it up on Monday for Bathurst High Campus in his school’s Combined High School Western Zone win over Kelso High Campus.
Broes scored 63 runs and took 0-23 off eight overs in his school’s 166-run local derby victory.
St Pat’s will have to be mindful this Saturday when they play Redbacks.
Redbacks are of course defending champions and cruised to victory in their six wicket win over ORC last Saturday.
ORC posted a score of just 121 off 29.1, before Redbacks chased the total down comfortable, posting a score of 4-122 off just 29.3 overs.
St Pat’s will host Redbacks at the Bathurst Sportsground at 1.30pm.
