In the gig for Bathurst trainer Peter Bullock, the five-year-old gelding was one of four runners who came out of the barriers well and contested for the lead.
Lorenzo Shannon was able to get it, crossing from barrier three to take front spot.
Once in front Barnes rated the $3.60 chance nicely, but behind her the Amanda Turnbull driven $2.50 favourite Greenngold did things tougher.
Having dropped back initially from a wide second row draw, Turnbull then punched forward. Greenngold was stuck three wide for a lap before rolling up on the outside of Lorenzo Shannon.
In the end that effort told as Lorenzo Shannon, who had enjoyed an easier trip, held off the favourite in the sprint for home. The son of Art Official won by 1.7m.
