Martin tackled the 500 metre swim, 16.5 kilometre cycle, 5km run course in the season opening round and was pleased with how she handled the distance.
She clocked a winning time of 58 minutes, 52 seconds, finishing well clear of Jess Richards (1:03.45).
“I’ve got a big race coming up at Kurnell in a couple of weeks, so this was just a good chance to see how I’m going, where I’m at and how I’m feeling,” she said.
“I came in with a couple of niggles so I wanted to see how that played out today, but I feel pretty good.
“It felt good on the bike, there wasn’t much wind out there either. I didn’t know where I was in the race, so I just thought I’d get stuck in and see what happens.”
The first female honours in the short course event went to Emily Watts. She led out of the water, increased her advantage to over four minutes on the cycle and finished with a strong run leg.
She crossed the line after 42.06, with Kristy Powyer (50.19) second.
