STEADY rain across the region last Friday could not have come at a better time for nine local homeowners preparing for a big couple of days this weekend.

The Spring Spectacular returns on Saturday and Sunday, offering the chance to peek inside some of the city’s best private gardens.
This year the gardens cover a wide area of the Bathurst region, with three on the “Locksley Loop” to the south-east of the city, three on the “Newbridge Loop” to the south-west and three “Town Gardens” for garden enthusiasts to enjoy.
Miss Traill’s House and Garden on Russell Street will also be open for the day.
Tickets are $20, available from each of the gardens or the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre, with assistance with bus groups, itineraries tour guides also available.
The gardens are open 9am to 5.30pm each day and will be well worth a look.

Barnesy still pulls a crowd
HANDS up if you’re among the lucky ones to snare one of the hottest tickets in town – a ticket to see Jimmy Barnes at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre in April?
It took just 20 minutes on Monday morning for Barnes’ show to be all-but sold out, with only single tickets remaining after that.
It was the fastest-selling show at BMEC in recent memory and there will be plenty of people around town hoping that a second show might be added.
That’s a testimony to the enduring popularity of a rocker who seems to just get better with age.
Barnes has also proved himself a savvy operator in the literary world, splitting his memoirs into two parts to (hopefully) double his sales.
Parade thoroughly enjoyed Part One last year and will be looking for some quiet time over the festive season to get stuck into Part Two.
Two months to Christmas Eve
AND while we’re talking about the festive season: Parade knows no-one enjoys these reminders, but a quick check of the calendar confirms today marks two months until Christmas Eve.
You’re welcome.
