The exam was one of 12 exams held on Tuesday and went for three hours.
Year 12 student Joel Thomas said he was a little concerned going into the exam, but felt he had prepared enough for it with his studies.
“It was challenging, but it was really good,” he said of the questions.
He said he felt the time allocated for this exam was reasonable, given he had finished the exam early with around 20 minutes to go.
“It gave me time to go over my exam at the end, which was good,” he said.
Joel now has two more exams to prepare for: studies of religion and physics.
Fellow student Oliver O’Toole was also feeling good about the ancient history exam, although admitted he didn’t go into it feeling 100 per confident with how he would perform.
He said the questions were both reasonable and challenging.
“I was able to answer every question, but whether I have answered each question to the highest standard is the question,” he said.
Oliver has three more exams – extension English, Drama and Legal Studies – before his HSC is complete.
The HSC will continue on Wednesday with exams for eight subjects.
