The Sydney Conservatorium’s Early Music Ensemble and Chamber Choir is on a regional tour bringing the choral music of Iceland and Italy, and ensemble music of Georg Philipp Telemann, Claudio Monteverdi and Thomas Arne - the man who composed Rule Britannia - to Bathurst.
They’ll perform at St Michael & Saint John Cathedral on Saturday, November 4 from 2pm (tickets $10 at the door) and during Sunday 9am mass at the All Saints’ Cathedral.
Art trails
NOT only is a Bathurst Arts Trail weekend, with local studios open Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm, but artist studios will also be open, this weekend only, around Lithgow, Hartley and Portland (www.artistsinaction.com.au) and at Millthorpe in conjunction with the garden ramble.
Millthorpe artists opening their doors include painters, a potter, photographers, a violin maker and a printmaker.
Look for the big red dots with a capital ‘A’ inside.

Film lovers
ALONGSIDE BRAG’s exhibition The Unflinching Gaze runs a series of weekly documentaries.
This Thursday, November 2 at 6pm see Paragraph 175, about gay and lesbian persecution under the Nazis.
Next Thursday’s film is That Man: Peter Berlin.
Meanwhile the works created for the Go Green Student Film Festival will screen Sunday at 1pm at Rahamim Ecology Centre in Busby Street.
First prize
BATHURST painter Barbara Holmes recently won first place in the painting section at the Lachlan Valley Biennial Art Awards at Cowra Regional Art Gallery and second place at the Blackheath Rhododendron Festival Art Show in the Contemporary Section.
Barbara and husband Bruce are members of the Bathurst Arts Trail and their studio will be open this weekend.
They also open a joint exhibition ‘Then and Now’, charting their artistic journey, diverse styles and influences, at Gallery Blackheath from November 3.
