Speaking at Wednesday’s discussion forum, BRAC chairman Bob Triming said he was concerned about the absence of paths from any plans or images released for the ambulance station.
He suggested it be a requirement of the application that these are constructed.
“The suggestion is that they be required to install a sealed footpath along the frontage of the ambulance station, up to Durham Street where there is already existing sealed footpaths, and on the side of Commonwealth Street that the ambulance station’s going to be on.”
There are currently no pathways in that area and Mr Triming said they would be welcomed by residents.
He said council should learn from the mistakes made at Services NSW, that “not even people with a disability who catch a bus can access”.
“So let’s not create another problem for people with disabilities,” he said.
