Bathurst West Public School principal Darren Denmead and teachers Ben Mann and Josh Alexander are among thousands of people across Australia taking part in Movember.
The initiative encourages men to grow a mo for a month to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and suicide prevention.
Hard to ignore the statistics around suicide.
- Principal Darren Denmead
Mr Denmead and Mr Alexander have taken part in Movember before, but Mr Mann is new to the initiative.
“Men often don’t pay enough attention to themselves and their health and we hope that it’ll bring attention and it’s important to raise awareness,” Mr Mann said.
This month, Mr Denmead and Mr Mann are growing a mo, while Mr Alexander will bit-by-bit shave off his beard to help raise funds.
Mr Denmead said the trio’s profile at the school will help create further awareness.
“It’s pretty hard to ignore the statistics around suicide,” he said.
The men’s team is called the Bathurst West Warriors, and they hope to raise $3000 during Movember.
