The city’s formal commemoration was held at the War Memorial Carillon on Kings Parade but, across the city, people stopped whatever they were doing to mark the 99th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War 1.
Shoppers, motorists and even junior cricketers stood to attention in a poignant mark of respect.
At the carillon, a trumpeter playing the Last Post set the solemn backdrop to a tribute to Bathurst’s sons and daughters who lost their lives or suffered in war.
The official guests and many in the good-size crowd on hand wore replica poppies that recalled the World War 1 battlefields of Belgium, France and Gallipoli.
Cities, towns and villages across the Central West also marked Remembrance Day, with good turn-outs at official ceremonies in Dubbo and Orange.
