An individual can be considered for the Living Legend award if they are currently living within the Bathurst Regional Council area and have contributed to making Bathurst a great place to live and visit. The Living Legends are announced on Proclamation Day in May each year.
The Legends also have a tree planted on Bradwardine Road, with a plaque identifying each Legend's tree.

We recently honoured Jim McMenamin with a plaque at Bathurst Sportsground. Relatives and family friends travelled from far and wide to be part of the special occasion celebrating a true all-round legend of Bathurst.
Jim was an educator, decorated soldier and a test cricket umpire. He was born in 1910, the seventh of nine children of Edward and Eliza McMenamin who operated the Family Stores and Post Office at Kelso. In 1937, he moved to South Africa to participate in a teacher exchange.
He joined the South African Forces and was subsequently awarded the Military Cross. He took up cricket umpiring with such skill that he was appointed to four tests: two versus England in 1956-57 and two against Ian Craig’s Australian team in 1957-58, all at the Wanderers ground in Johannesburg. Returning to Australia in 1960, he was on the staff of Bathurst Teachers’ College until 1964.

CTP Green Slips live
New prices for the new, lower cost CTP Green Slip scheme are now live, with a brand new price comparison website launched to help drivers find the best deal.
NSW drivers will save up to $172 a year from December 1 with the new scheme delivering much needed savings.
The overwhelming majority of local residents are expected to see a significant reduction on their next bill. However, it’s still important to shop around for the best price, and the best way to do that is by using the Green Slip Price Check website.
The Green Slip Price Check is available at www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au. A table with details on the savings is available at www.sira.nsw.gov.au
CARP Blitz
The annual blitz on carp will be held again this weekend at Sofala November 18-19, with entries open from 7.30am Saturday morning to the left of the Sofala Bridge. Visit the oldest surviving gold town in Australia and do the environment some good at the same time!
This annual family friendly event is a great family day out, with lots of fantastic prizes and the opportunity to help rid our local waterways of unwanted carp.
The Department of Primary Industry (DPI) support groups like the Sofala Central Acclimatisation Society (CAS) in removing pest species from our waterways, and restocking with native species and habitat.
They run a number of programs including Freshwater fish stocking, dollar for dollar native fish programs and habitat funding to help restore native vegetation and breeding habitat in populated areas.
Members of the Sofala CAS have been critical in securing funding and restoring habitat in many of our local waterways along the Macquarie and Turon rivers, and always deliver a great weekend.
You can enter for a gold coin donation (with all proceeds going back to restocking the river with native species) and enjoy an excellent day out with the family with onsite catering, raffles and lots more.
For more information go to Sofala Branch CAS Fishing on Facebook or contact the Sofala CAS on 0414 758 558.
