IT’S nothing short of a depressing reality when you treat yourself to your favourite frozen drink through the drive thru and see exactly how many calories are in the concoction of crushed ice, syrup, biscuits and cream.

Parade, typically turns a blind eye to the calorie count when she orders but the figure did catch her eye on Monday, and must have stayed subconsciously in her thoughts, especially later that night when she got on the treadmill.
After doing over 7km in the gym, Parade took stock of her efforts and realised that in 50 minutes she had only just burned off the calories she had consumed in her drink that afternoon.
Talk about a reality check. Tempting as the drinks are Parade, knowing how hard she has to work to work off those calories, thinks she will be going for a bottle of water next time.
Technology comes in handy
A friend of Parade’s sister is in Ireland at the moment and she received three calls from Orange number in the early hours of the morning.
Worried something was wrong after a series of calls she didn’t answer (because it was 5am over there), she text her sister asking if everything was okay?
Not knowing anything about the calls, the friend’s sister got the number and rung it to check what was going on, it was simply a receptionist ringing to change a medical appointment. So the sister in Bathurst was able to reschedule the appointment from here (as it was still business hours) and text her sister back in Ireland with the new date, and everyone was happy.
Soccer has a new fan
Parade loved the Socceroos game on Wednesday night, and though not usually much of a fan of the sport, loved watching it at such an elite level.
So much so that she is now keen to have a crack at playing, and is looking into women’s teams in Bathurst in the lowest grade. She’s even been busy recruiting work colleagues to join her, some she concedes are not as keen to play as she is, but she’s confident once they take the pitch they will come around and enjoy the game.
