So special in fact that Miller has now been inducted in to the Kent State University Varsity ‘K’ Hall Of Fame.
Miller, who played club hockey for Waratahs and Bathurst City, was given the honour in late September.
“[She’s] One of the fastest players I’ve ever coached. Her work ethic and passion for the game really set the standard for our team,” Miller’s former head coach Kathleen Wiler said.
“She made me a better coach.”
Miller’s coach knew after her 2007 campaign that she was an important signing for the Golden Flashes.
She was the Mid America Conference (MAC) freshman of the year and was one of just 16 players from across the country to be named in the WomensFieldHockey.com all rookie squad.
“Our offensive production was instrumental in our improvement this season and Rachel played a major role in that offence,” the mentor said at the time.
After her standout freshman campaign, the Bathurst star went on to captain the Golden Flashes to plenty of success during her time at Kent State.
She helped them to three MAC regular season titles and two NCAA appearances.
Miller is the only the only three-time All-American in Kent State’s program history, including first team honours as both a sophomore and senior.
In her 85 games she scored 14 match winners.
