The man behind the Paddy’s Pub to Pub Tour held through the Central Tablelands in September says the event has raised more than $8000 for the Love Your Sister organisation.
The tour was organised by Sydney teacher Patrick O’Shea in honour of his late wife Michelle Hanrahan, a Bathurst girl who passed away in 2015.
He and supporters, including family and friends, walked from Black Springs to Bathurst and then from North Bondi to Clovelly in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to remember Ms Hanrahan.
Mr O’Shea said $8435 was raised by the tour for Love Your Sister, the organisation set up by Connie Johnson and her brother, actor Samuel Johnson, to encourage Australian women to have their breasts checked.
Ms Johnson, a mother of two, fought breast cancer for years before passing away in September.
Mr O’Shea is already planning for next year’s Paddy’s Pub to Pub Tour, which will be held in October 2018.
He said it will take place from Monday, October 1 to Friday, October 5 and participants will again walk from Black Springs to Bathurst and then from North Bondi to Clovelly.
“Our aim is to maintain the beautiful feeling of the first tour, but also acknowledge that many people have expressed the desire to join in,” he said.
“Like this year, we will find the way and appreciate the journey.”
