As of 9am Monday, there had been 64.6 millimetres recorded in Bathurst for November, 3.4 millimetres above the average.
Weatherzone meteorologist Jacob Cronje said the figure had been given a significant boost with the weekend’s rainy conditions.
“From Friday 9am until 9am [Monday], it has rained fairly on and off and that has has led to total rainfall over 50mm,” he said.
The total was 56.4mm, with 24mm of this falling across the 24-hour period from 9am Sunday.
November’s rainfall figures are a welcomed relief for Bathurst after a dry year, with very few months reaching the long-term averages.
“We had an exactly average October, but we had a very dry September across NSW. We didn’t get even half the average rainfall in September for Bathurst,” Mr Cronje said.
“That was very much due to dominant high pressure systems over that part of the country.”
Mr Cronje said Bathurst is likely to receive further rain from Friday and across the weekend, producing up to 5mm each day.
“Any rain that falls from Friday will certainly bolster those figures [for November],” he said.
