The open-grade race has attracted the likes of former Gold Crown winner Beetson, trained by Bathurst’s Peter Trevor-Jones, plus Dubbo trainer Barry Lew’s Karloo Threeothree and Karloo Damajor.
Beetson may have just celebrated his 10th birthday but the gallant gelding hasn’t showed any signs of slowing down. He picked up career win number 35 last start.
Beetson will be the sole second row starter in Wednesday’s race but he gets a quick horse to follow out behind – Karloo Threeothree.
Lew’s former Group 3 runner-up returns from a two month spell, on the hunt for a third straight win.
He gets the perfect opportunity out of gate one to lead from start to finish.
Karloo Damajor should also be right in the hunt.
The second contender in the race for Lew has looked sharp since his Breeders Challenge Final last season.
He’s since gone on to win four of his next five races.
Even with a gate five start on Wednesday he will have the opportunity to take the sit outside the leader, which will likely be his stablemate.
Dark Energy, trained by KerryAnn Turner, can’t be discounted among the strong field.
The five-year-old hasn’t been among the placings over his recent starts but he’s been racing among handy metro opposition.
