Each year, Westfund holds a Christmas appeal to make a difference across regional NSW while passing on donations received from members and the community.
Westfund’s Bathurst branch chose to support the op shop and passed on $500 last week.
Regional manager Lisa Gibson said the op shop was a very deserving recipient.
“We’re thrilled to be able to assist the Bathurst Community Op Shop this Christmas and we hope this donation helps to spread some joy and hope this holiday season,” she said.
Deputy mayor Bobby Bourke, who works with the op shop, said volunteers were grateful for the donation after such a tough year.
“Those funds will go to helping people around Christmas time when we’re putting hampers together,” he said.
“This year, we’ve had a lot of bad luck at the shop and we are short on funds, so this money from Westfund will help.”
