The power went out around 5.15pm and the Essential Energy website says 1762 customers have been impacted.
The supply outages have hit an area to the north and west of Bathurst, with homes in Windradyne, Eglinton, Mount Rankin, Billywillinga and Duramana affected.
The blackout hits as a series of thunderstorms rolled across the Bathurst region this afternoon.
