The Bathurst Community Christmas Lunch has been running for the past 27 years and it is a chance to give back to the community and offer a helping hand to those in need in the festive period.
Held on Christmas day at Hope Bathurst church, the event attracts hundreds of diners of all ages and co-ordinator Barney Rumble hopes this year will be no different.
“It’s for people who have nowhere else to go, or are a bit down and out or lonely,” he said. “We try and make it a really welcoming event.
“Santa will be there and we’ll have a nice baked dinner with all the trimmings and puddings.”
Mr Rumble said the lunch would not be possible without the help of volunteers who set up for the event, prepare food, serve and wash up.

Donations of presents are welcomed, and Mr Rumble said they should be wrapped with a note left stating the suggested recipient’s sex and age left on the outside.
He said donations of food, soft drink and lollies were welcomed and he has asked anyone interested in making a donation to call him on 0409 785 990.
The lunch commences at 12.30pm and those interested in dining or volunteering are asked to register by calling The Neighbourhood Centre on 6332 4866.
