The three exhibitions – titled Montages: The Final Cut, 1999-2015 Tracey Moffatt & Gary Hillberg; James Capper: Mark Maker; and [un]packed: from the permanent collection – offer some great family viewing throughout the coming Christmas holdays.
Montages
MONTAGES: The Full Cut, 1999-2015 presents the full suite of eight montage films by artist Tracey Moffatt and her long-time collaborator Gary Hillberg.
Exhibited together for the first time, these works span 16 years of collaborative practice,.
The first montage work was created in 1999 and the latest in 2015.
Montages: The Full Cut, 1999 – 2015 was developed by Artspace, Sydney and is touring nationally in partnership with Museums & Galleries of NSW.
Mark Maker
JAMES Capper: Mark Maker presents the work of pioneering young British artist James Capper, whose practice adopts the materials and processes of engineering to create mobile sculptures that walk, crawl and move across the earth.
Local art enthusiasts will also have the chance to join James Capper for a live demonstration of his mobile sculptures.
These special works will delight BRAG audiences as they move across the gallery space on hydraulic legs, leaving behind scratches and marks as a record of their progress.
This demonstration will be followed by a discussion with curator Edward Campbell which examines James’ practice.
This is a free community event from 11am on Saturday, December 9 at BRAG.
[un]packed
OUR third exhibition, [un]packed, showcases the rich diversity of the BRAG collection and gives insight into the storage and care of this important regional collection.
Now valued at $11.5 million, the works held by BRAG are a major asset for the Bathurst community and sit at the heart of the gallery's operations.
Holiday fun
ALL three exhibitions will be on display at BRAG during the summer holidays and feature a kids’ activity room where participants can make, create and add their own bunting artworks to the walls.
Parents are welcome to join in; however all children must be accompanied by an adult.
