The Water Polo NSW ambassador has been a great point of call for both players and coaching staff to seek advice from.
Nicholson, who represents Sydney University in the National Water Polo League, has been enjoying his role at the Bathurst Aquatic Centre.
“I’ve been involved in the sport for 15 years. I’ve played in junior national teams and have been involved in the National Water Polo League for over 10 years now,” he said.
“I’m coming here to talk to athletes and tell them about how to get to that next level. I’m also here to help the coaches develop, especially some of the regional coaches who haven’t been as exposed to higher-level tactics.
“I’m here to help where I can. We’ve also got a bunch of new event staff here so I’m here to help them prepare for some of our bigger events later in the year.
“This is the first age group where he see the elite kids and future Olympians come through. You see the kids that have the tactical awareness and the good positioning.
“There’s kids playing here today who will be at an Olympics in 2024 or 2028.
“From this they will select state squads. Over the next six months they’ll work towards getting those guys into different teams before heading off to the Sydney Youth Festival in July.”

Tuesday will be final day of action at the Bathurst Aquatic Centre.
Division A semi-finals get underway from 8.30am.
The bronze medal game starts at 2.50pm with the gold medal finale to follow at 3.40pm.
