A couple of caravanners passing through Bathurst had a bit of misfortune recently, but were overwhelmed by the generosity shown by some locals.
Parade will let one of the travellers, Pamela Potter, take up the story:
“We are travelling in a caravan and broke down just coming into Bathurst,” she said.
“We were parked for a while waiting for the NRMA when two of your local people gave us an unexpected boost when a lady took my husband to a local food place, waited and brought him back to our van and a bit later a gentleman from across the road brought us ice-creams as it was very hot.
“What a wonderful community you have with people like these. We didn’t know their names, but would like to thank them so much and wish good fortune to them both.
“The NRMA also deserves a mention for their fabulous service.”
It flickered, but it was not gold
AND now for something completely different.
While on the road taken by many (apologies to Robert Frost) in Machattie Park this week, Parade came across a sudden change in scenery.
Staring through the lens of her camera trying to take some decent photographs, Parade saw what appeared to be a piece of gold laying among the green, flickering in the summer sun.
As Parade began to creep up to the unidentified object, her hopes were on the rise, as she thought she might have been looking at a $50 note.
Unfortunately, it was an empty chocolate wrapper sitting in the sun.
That made it two disappointments in the one experience (counting some of the photos that didn’t turn out as well as Parade hoped).
Carols with a view at Mount
IF you share a love for Bathurst’s most renowned asset and the sounds of Christmas, make sure to save the date for the Bathurst Combined Churches Carols at Mount Panorama.
The event will take place at McPhillamy Park this Friday from 7pm to 9pm.
