Approximately 3179 family and friends will join 864 graduates, at the ceremonies to be held at St Stanislaus College.
CSU Bathurst head of campus and associate professor Chika Anyanwu said it’s a privilege to see the next group of graduates move into the working world.
“The pride and expectation of every parent is that their children have success in life,” he said.
“As academics and an university, that is our ambition and we are so proud of our graduates.
“We have a professional approach to education, where theory and practice are integrated.
“As a head of campus, seeing these graduates come and go to a job that they love, in this time of great uncertainty, is a great privilege.
“It’s also a great honour to work with a group of professionals who nurture these students. We love our students. It’s like a family.”
Alongside the graduating students, there will be six Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students receiving their testamurs on Thursday and Friday.
Faculty of Arts and Education students have their graduation ceremony on Thursday, at 9.30am, followed by more Faculty of Arts and Education students and the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences graduates at 3pm.
On Friday, Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences and Faculty of Science students will graduate at 9.30am and another group of Faculty of Science students will graduate at 3pm.
Professor Anyanwu said he was proud of CSU’s high graduate employment rate.
“In these days, no one is guaranteed a job. That’s why we are so proud of topping that list for those who graduate students who are job ready,” he said.
“You have to be ready to land that job. That’s what we are doing, making sure students are job-ready.
“Students have already worked through their internships, their placements and they know what it’s like to work in a professional environment.”
In hearing that over 4000 people will be attending CSU graduations in Bathurst, Bathurst Business Chamber board member Steve Semmens said it is great news for the local economy.
“It’s excellent, the more [people coming to town] the merrier,” he said.
“I think the hospitality industry will benefit really well. It’s just a great time for celebrations.
“I’m actually graduating myself, with honours in a bachelor of business.”
