Paramedics were called to Lloyds Road in South Bathurst at 8.10pm on Wednesday following reports a male rider has lost control of his bicycle.
“He was riding his push bike down a hill and collided with what we believe to be the kerb,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Rhys Dive said.
“He was found unconscious on the footpath.”
The accident occurred in close proximity to Bathurst State Emergency Service’s (SES) headquarters on Lloyds Road and volunteers from the unit arrived on scene first.
Inspector Dive said paramedics worked with the SES crews on site to assist the man who was then transported by road ambulance to Mount Panorama.
SES crews closed the roads near Murray's Corner on the circuit to allow the rescue helicopter to land.
“Helicopter paramedics and doctors stabilised the patient and flew him through to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition,” Inspector Dive said.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
