Whether they were happy or not with their marks, students were at school earlier to celebrate their marks with teachers over a barbecue breakfast.
There would been little problem for students to get up early for the breakfast, as many would have been to anxious to sleep.
Jacob Zammitt woke early to find that he had received a Band 6 in Mathematics Extension 1.
“I was very happy. The hard work really paid off,” he said.
“I’m also happy that the HSC is finally done.”
Mr Zammitt wants to head off to the Australia National University, in Canberra, next year, to study a double degree in Mathematical and Actuarial Studies.
Grace Finlayson was consistent in all her subjects, collecting Band 5s in Ancient History, Community and Family Studies, Advanced English, Mathematics General and Textiles and Design.
It was mixed emotions for her on Thursday morning.
“I was really nervous before I checked and then really happy when I saw the results,” she said.
“I was happy with my results and happy after all the hard work I’ve put in.
“I wanted to go a bit better in Ancient History, but I’m still happy.
“I’ll do a gap year next year and then university. There’s no plans yet but to just keep working at Big W.”
Eve Currie scored three Band 6s in her HSC, in Advanced English, Mathematics General and Senior Science.
“It was a good result. I barely slept and when I woke up to the text, I was quite happy with the result,” she said.
“It was a good time to reflect on all the hard work.”
Ms Currie will take a gap year in 2018 and then either study art and law or politics and law in Canberra.
She recently came back from a scholarship in Canberra where she was able to network with different politicians, including Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop.
