POTENTIAL is a word used a lot in reference to the CSU Rugby Club, but it is a fitting one to use in regards to the students following the Blue Mountains and Greater West Rugby Sevens Carnival.

At that event CSU’s open men’s side quickly adjusted when competing in the sevens format for the first time.
It also saw a women’s CSU outfit in action and showed there is the possibility of the students fielding a side in next season’s Central West Rugby Union competition.
“We cannot say whether or not we will be able to field a full girls side next year until we are sure of the parameters of the competition. However, the girls seemed to have a great time, which is always a promising sign,” CSU’S Angus Kennelly said.
“The men’s team was a mix of grade players and 2017 colts that will play grade in 2018.
“By the end of the day we had improved out of sight and in our second last game, put 10 tries on the opposition team. We are very keen to give sevens a crack again.”
