That fixture will continue Bathurst’s link with NRL club Penrith, who have played the Cronulla Sharks, Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders twice in a partnership that began in 2014 and will continue until at least 2028.
It is a deal Bathurst is proud of and one others have taken note of.
Keen to bring NRL games back to the Canberra Raiders' spiritual home, Seiffert Oval, the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council will talk with Bathurst and seek advice.
At their meeting on Wednesday night, the council decided to speak to their counterparts in Bathurst – who have upgraded Carrington Park - to find out what they need to do to bring Seiffert up to scratch.
Advice will also be sought from Mudgee, who will host St George Illawarra at Glen Willow for the next two years.
The Raiders played their home games at Seiffert from their inaugural season in 1982 up until the end of 1989.
