Bathurst Aquatic Centre manager Oliver Barclay says attendances are definitely increasing due to the recent hot weather.
“Since November, more people have been coming to the pool, especially now that it’s the school holidays,” he said.
After a mild start to summer, including a couple of maximums below 20 degrees, Bathurst has really started to heat up, recording a number of maximums in the 30s and with a 36-degree day coming up.
Mr Barclay said the centre is also taking part in the Royal Life Saving Keep Watch program, which requires children five years and under to wear a specific band to indicate they have parental supervision.
“If this is just the start of the heat then we are in for a long summer, so remember to slip, slop, slap and take care,” Mr Barclay said.
The centre will again be having free entry on Australia Day.
