THE redevelopment of three football pitches at Proctor Park is expected to be completed by January 25, according to Bathurst Regional Council.

Work was to have been completed by the end of 2017, but that finish date was revised due to a period of inclement weather in late November and early December.
The main irrigation line is being installed at Proctor, according to council general manager David Sherley.
“Current works include the installation and commissioning of the main irrigation line, including all wiring to the new control board and cut-in of existing lines to resume watering of existing fields,” he said.
Mr Sherley said the sprinkler system installation had started.
“Fields one and two have been stripped, shaped, compacted and proof rolled, with intermediate sand layer material now on site,” he said.
“Spreading and placement have commenced on field one.”
Work started at Proctor Park in September following the conclusion of Bathurst District Football’s playing season.
It is expected to be finished by the start of the 2018 season.
The placement of the intermediate sand layer is expected to be completed by the end of next week, to enable the placement of a final layer of sand.
“Earthworks for retaining walls and footpaths are nearing completion and drainage lines have been finalised and prepared for subsoil system installation,” Mr Sherley said.
Bathurst District Football and its playing members will be the biggest beneficiaries when the work is complete.
District treasurer Grant Foster said it will be “brilliant” when it’s finished.
“We’ve been plagued with poor fields that when it rains, they flood easily,” he said.
“Council has been brilliant. We couldn’t be happier with the relationship.
“We’re looking forward to a brilliant facility.
“Some might be a bit shocked at the work, with the earth cut away. It’ll look good come the end of work.”
Acting Bathurst mayor Bobby Bourke said credit has to go to fellow councillors Ian North and Warren Aubin.
“They’ve put in a lot of time to tell council the benefits of a better facility,” he said.
“They’ve outlined the benefits and council has come on board.
“We’re looking forward to having yet another great Bathurst sporting facility matching it with some of the best in the state.”
