The Canberra United player and her team may not have won a match across December but Carpenter was a shining light in an otherwise disappointing time for the squad.
The nomination came just before Carpenter scored her first W-League goal for Canberra United on Sunday in their big win against Adelaide United.
Carpenter got on the end of striker Michelle Heyman's cross to score after just three minutes.
Her goal helped set up Canberra's 6-1 thumping of Adelaide, with Elise Thorsnes bagging a hat-trick.
Carpenter, 17, joins Melbourne Victory’s Kyra Cooney-Cross (November) as a nominee for the prestigious Award.
The W-League Young Footballer of the Year will be announced at the Dolan Warren Awards Night.
