El Gran Senor, a Bettors Delight horse out of Belleruche, has never ventured outside of Peak Hill, Bathurst and Young since arriving in Australia.
At Menangle this Saturday that will change when El Gran Senor contests the Rega Pumps & Sprayers Pace (2,300 metres).
Turnbull’s runner has torn up the country tracks lately with four wins from his past five starts.
The only misstep in that period was a ninth place result on Shirley Turnbull Memorial night at Bathurst, where he was over raced.
He fought back last start to lead all the way on his home track.
El Gran Senor goes out from gate two on Saturday.
The in-form runner of the race is Clayton Harmey’s Karmic Fire who will be chasing a fifth straight career victory.
