The three-bin collection is undoubtedly successful.

However, the newly installed glass and bottle recycling centre, while allowing residents to reduce glass and plastic pollution, has given rise to a shocking level of noise pollution that is causing serious concern among the nearby residents.

While I understand the need to place such a centre in an easily accessible position, and granted, beside a service station is ideal, you may not have considered the impact on families living in Torch Street.

The centre is obviously proving very popular.

The repetitive clunk, clunk of bottles landing in the waste bins is continual throughout the day, making sitting or working at the front of our homes impossible.

The number of cars being parked haphazardly on the busy corner, blocking easy access into the service station and proving dangerous to pedestrians, is a growing problem.

The left-over rubbish at the end of each day is unsightly and unacceptable, and the growing flock of shopping trolleys will undoubtedly continue to breed.

As a result, the overall impact on the emotional and mental health of residents needs to be seriously considered.

I strenuously object to the growing numbers of people milling about in our street, leaving behind their unsightly rubbish and shopping trolleys. 

I am very concerned that the value of our homes will be reduced by this eyesore.

The State Government must reposition the recycling centre.

There must be other places available in Bathurst to house this facility rather than in a quiet residential street.

Replacing environmental pollution with an unacceptable level of noise pollution on nearby residents is not the answer.
