The Strikers will face the Perth Scorchers in what will be the first time a game in the national Twenty20 competition has been staged in the Northern Territory.
An aggressive top order batsman who currently plays his club cricket in the ACT, Dean has only been included in the Strikers’ XI once so far this season.
That was in their season-opening win against Sydney Thunder, a match in which Dean hit an unbeaten 12 off six deliveries after coming in at number seven.
Since then Dean has been 12th man, but with skipper and number three Travis Head now in camp with the Australian one-day side, he shapes as the likely replacement.
Team-mate Alex Carey says Dean has been “unlucky to miss out” of late and that he is one of the “guys waiting to fire”.
