Last Friday, Keep ‘Em Keen started at Wagga Wagga and backed it up to claim a four career placing.
The win was one Mandurama trainer Steve Cleary was confident she would get the win from the start.
“Once she began she was always going to win,” he said.
“She’s only a young dog but she’s won her past two. Things are looking up.”
Keep ‘Em Keen started from box five and with the third-worst odds ($11.10) in the eight dog field, she would have to defy the punters to get the win.
She jumped well out of the box, took the lead and never looked back to win comfortably in the first race of the day.
Keep ‘Em Keen finished ahead of outsider Refero Poe ($25) to win the race, with race favourite Shiwen Express ($2.50) finished after being knocked back to the position when she received a bump from a rival dog in the opening straight.
Amber Light ($12) took the third and final placing, Timetable ($4.20) snagged fourth and Sienna Grand ($6.50) finished fifth.
Cosmic Speedway ($5.20) finished sixth and Winlock Glitzy ($10.40) was seventh.
Cleary has no plans, at the moment, for Keep ‘Em Keen.
“We’ll only take it week to week. She’s only a baby,” he said.
“She was a handful when I first got her and played up a fair bit,” he said.
“I’ve settled her down now. She’s more focused.”
