The annual event is now in its fifth year of raising funds and awareness for the Charlie Teo Foundation and Redkite.
Al’s Ride will be held on Saturday, February 17 with five separate motorcycle rides and two car cruises set to converge on Bathurst.
Organiser Keith Ryan said a barbecue was held at Bunnings on Saturday to kick-off this year’s fundraising.
“We made a clear profit of just over $1000,” he said.
“This was our second Bunnings barbecue … these barbecues have worked very well to raise funds, and equally, promote our event.”
At next months’ event, motorcycle riders will be coming from Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands, Granville in Sydney, Bombala in the Snowy Mountains and Rutherford in the Hunter Valley. The fifth ride will start and end in Bathurst.
One car cruise will commence in Richmond, the other will start and finish in Bathurst.
All rides have been co-ordinated to arrive at the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre in Kendall Avenue, opposite the Bathurst Showground.
Riders will then have time to meet other participants before a 3pm departure to travel through Bathurst to Mount Panorama, where a group photograph will be taken on Conrod Straight.
Meanwhile, there will be a show and shine event held at O’Connell Hotel from from noon until 2.30pm.
Dr Teo will be among the participants for this year’s Al’s Ride and he will also speak at the event’s dinner on Saturday evening.
Mr Ryan said all event participants are welcome to attend a dinner on Saturday at the Panorama Hotel where speeches, raffles and auctions will be held.
“All the funds we raise are divided equally between the Charlie Teo Foundation to research the cause and cure of children’s brain cancer; and Redkite which provides care, counselling and support for any child and their families,” Mr Ryan said.
