Fine opportunity for playwrights
Seven years ago now the first Central West Short Playwriting Festival was the impetus to get me writing plays and scripts seriously.
It opened a whole lot of professional and creative doors for me, for which I’ll forever be grateful.
That first festival was funded through the state government’s Country Arts Support Program (CASP). CASP funding will again support the festival in its new, next-level iteration: a year-long mentoring program for eight writers in the region to create new one-act plays, ready for performance.
This is a regional project based out of Bathurst and supported by BMEC’s Local Stages program. I’ve now graduated from student to mentor and I couldn’t be more excited about this new opportunity.
Want to get involved? Expressions of Interest close January 25. The first weekend workshop will be February 3 to 4, with the first batch of public readings during the Bathurst Readers and Writers Festival in May. Follow up workshops will be held in July and October for performances probably in December.
