Bathurst triathletes will need to travel in strong numbers and perform well if they want to take the lead off leading club Orange.
Bathurst triathlete Mark Windsor is excited for a busy week of triathlon.
“It’s going to be a bit of triathlon week, leading into the Bathurst leg on Australia day,” he said.
“Cowra’s probably the better event but Bathurst is a nice one, especially with all the Australia Day events afterwards.”

The Cowra leg, which was originally washed out on December 3, was rescheduled for Sunday, five days before Bathurst’s leg on Australia Day.
While he could not nail it done to one triathlete, Windsor believes there will be a few competitors in the mix to win.
“Nick North is always up there. He might be looking to take his foot off and unload. Clearly he’s a talent but I’m unsure where he’s at,” he said.
“Connor Whiteley from Orange. He’s my tip to win if he shows up. He’s got a lot national commitment but he’s got the legs to scorch the field in the last run.
“It should make for a great event.”
One leg has only been contested for this season’s interclub series, which was on November 19 in Mudgee.
The Mudgee Interclub event in February, 2017, was held in similar heat circumstances.
On February 11, the mercury hit 43.9 degrees.
“It was raced in horrendous conditions in Mudgee. They had to organise extra water,” Windsor said.
“You’ve got to be careful in the final run. You don’t want to overheat.”
Orange currently lead the way the overall points standing, with Mudgee in second.
“Orange had a really good round in Mudgee and Mudgee also performed well,” Windsor said.
“Potentially, we’re in good position to be up.
“Orange is just so good in the women. They score some massive points.
“We might need some of our girls to step up and make a difference.”
The Cowra Acquatic Centre and Twigg Oval will host the triathlon, with registration opening at 7.30am.
The main triathlon event begins at 9.30am.
It will begin with a two kilometre run, followed by a 200 metre swim, a nine kilometre ride, another 200 metre swim and finish with another two kilometre run.
