DAVID Reynolds loves Mount Panorama so much he says he would enjoy lapping the track in a taxi, but come next month he will be behind the wheel of something much quicker.

Reynolds will join John Martin, Liam Talbot and Mark Griffith in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 which will vie for Bathurst 12 Hour glory.
The February 2-4 event will mark Reynolds’ return to the circuit where he enjoyed the biggest moment of his driving career – winning last October’s Bathurst 1000.
Reynolds labelled it “a perfect day,” as he and co-driver Luke Youlden not only got their first taste of Bathurst 1000 glory, but helped the small Erebus Motorsport team do likewise.
“Bathurst is Australia’s biggest motor racing event and you can’t get any more Australian than this,” he said.
That success saw Reynolds’ passion for the Mount renewed and now he can’t wait to put his skills to the test at the 6.213 kilometre circuit in the Bathurst 12 Hour.
“It’s probably one of the best races you go to for the year as a driver. It’s very relaxed, the cars are quite cool to drive - even though they’re nothing like what we normally drive in Supercars - it’s a lot of fun,” he said.
“And we’ve got a good chance to win our class and hopefully even challenge for outright, it’s going to be hard because we’re Pro-Am, but it’s still possible.
“All of the long-distance races you do during the year, they’re always a lot more fun. They’re super intense, but they’re also kind of relaxed at the same time. It doesn’t have the whole pressure of Supercars and what not.
“It’s always a good feeling when you know you’ve won at a track before. It is the best race track in Australia; any chance you get to drive it, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a taxi or an Uber, you love it.”
This February will mark the fourth time Reynolds has contested the Bathurst 12 Hour and he will be hoping to improve on his record.
On debut in 2011 in a Porsche 997 with Marc Cini and Dean Fiore, Reynolds recorded a DNF. When he returned in 2016 for Erebus, the Mercedes he shared with Nico Bastian and Thomas Jager, the trio enjoyed a fifth outright, but last year Reynolds once more missed out on seeing the chequered flag.
