Services NSW and the Bathurst Community Op Shop had their reverse vending machines put in place early in the morning.
Acting mayor Bobby Bourke, who helps run the op shop, said he was pleased to volunteer the site for a RVM, particularly after the issues experienced at the first site.

“I like to work for a community thing, making sure it’s in the right spot,” he said.
“We are used to recycling down here, so it’s just another small job to do.”
He said the op shop was “probably the most suitable spot” for a RVM, given that it is a good distance from residences and easily accessible for the community.
People who use the machine to recycle their containers won’t be refunded on site, but can take their receipt to Woolworths to complete their transaction.
Alternatively, people can donate their refund to Daffodil Cottage.
Cr Bourke said he and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole agreed that Daffodil Cottage would be the ideal charity to be supported by the Return and Earn scheme as it was local and recognised by a lot of people.
“Anyone that would like to just donate their cans and bottles, there will be a button they can push and it automatically goes into Daffodil Cottage’s account,” Cr Bourke said.
He expects the RVM will be operational by mid next week.
The hours for this machine will be 7am to 9pm.
The Services NSW machine and a third collection point at Bathurst Recycling, in Upfold Street, should also be operational by mid next week.
