NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) announced the ban and severe fire danger rating for Sunday for the Central Ranges area, which also includes: Oberon, Lithgow, Blayney, Orange, Cabonne, Cowra, Lithgow and Mid Western.
Very hot, windy weather is predicted for Bathurst with the mercury set to rise to 37 degrees.
The total fire ban commences at midnight on Saturday and runs for 24 hours until midnight on Sunday.
Other areas across NSW which will have a total fire ban on Sunday includes: the Greater Hunter, Southern Ranges and North Western.
Meanwhile, RFS crews were called to a grass fire off Tilsbury Lane at Black Springs in the mid afternoon on Saturday.
The RFS website states the fire, which was burning in the Oberon Council region, is now under control.
A separate 634 hectare bushfire burning at Long Gully Road, Bannaby, near Taralga south of Bathurst, remains out-of-control.
“Firefighters supported by aircraft and heavy plant will continue working to slow the spread of the fire,” the RFS website states.
