The activity was part of Bathurst Regional Council’s Vacation Care school holiday program on Monday.
Children’s services team leader Bronwyn Starkey said using recycled materials was common practice at the facility, in addition to its other environmentally friendly initiatives, including worm farms.
“A lot of these materials, we asked parents to save them and bring them in for the program,” she said.
Children had free reign over their materials and used their imagination to create whatever they wanted.
Some of the items produced were pencil tins, snow globes and library bags.
The holiday program will finish on Thursday, with the final activities being an excursion to the movies, a water games day and an excursion to Ji Li Feng Chinese Restaurant for lunch.
Ms Starkey said planning has already started for the April school holidays program.
“The children have a lot of input in the activities as well,” she said.
