The needs of our growing community are changing and so has the way we use and access information.
To meet those changing needs, our library received upgrades totalling $600,000 funded by Council and State Library of NSW.
Our library is so much more than a quiet space to read a book.
It’s a place that fosters community creativity, connection, literacy and imagination. It has a new layout, furniture, lighting, shelving and carpet with dedicated spaces for collaborating, relaxing, learning and playing.
Technology has been enhanced with new PCs, two e-kiosks, and laptop bars with charging stations.
In the coming weeks the WiFi will be upgraded and an interactive touch screen table will be added to encourage learning.
The library is open from Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and weekends from 10am to 3pm. I encourage everyone to visit, explore and learn.

Cut some of those sports costs by using a voucher
PARENTS can now claim a $100 voucher for their school-enrolled children thanks to the NSW Government’s new Active Kids program.
Through the program, parents, carers and guardians across NSW will be able to claim a $100 voucher to put towards the registration and participation costs of sport and active recreation activities for their kids.
With household budgets continually stretched, we want to ensure every child has access to sports and active participation for their health and wellbeing.
Parents, guardians and carers of children participating in sport and other approved physical activities in NSW can apply for the voucher online through their MyServiceNSW account, and can then redeem the voucher at their local sporting club or approved provider.
Whether your child participates in summer or winter sports or activities, Active Kids vouchers can be used until December 31, so there is no rush to claim.
We want every child in NSW to be able to use their voucher, so we encourage parents to speak to their local club about registering to be an approved provider.
For more information on the program, visit www.sport.nsw.gov.au/activekids or phone Service NSW on 13 77 88.
Free flu jabs for under fives
LOCAL children between six months and five years old are now eligible for free flu jabs this year.
The $3.5 million influenza vaccination program offered by the NSW Government follows last year’s severe flu season.
Last year our communities, like many in NSW, were hit hard by the flu season.
Little kids are also most likely to spread the flu, so a free flu jab will not only keep them safe, but will protect others with whom they come into contact.
We already have some of the best childhood vaccination rates in the country and this free flu jab will go even further to protect our little ones from potentially deadly flu infection.
Children who have never had a flu vaccination will need two doses, one month apart.
The vaccine will cover four strains of influenza virus, two A strains and two B strains, likely to be circulating this winter.
Last year there were more than 12,000 confirmed cases of influenza in children under five, with many more likely not to have been tested.
