The Dutch driver did not even manage to drive a single lap, with then Jamec Pem Racing temmate Markus Winkelhock at the wheel when the Audi R8 LMS crashed.
He will be in the same car again with 19-year-old Belgian driver Dries Vanthoor and Britain’s Stuart Leonard.
He said the Mount Panorama Circuit is different to the ones he regularly drives on in Europe, in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.
“There’s not many run offs. That’s what we have in Europe and we’re getting more and more. That’s what I don’t like about it,” he said.
“When you make a mistake at this track and run into the wall, most times your race will be over and that’s how it should be.”
“If you make an error, you should be punished for it. That’s what racing is all about. This is a track where you make a mistake, you’ll probably end up in the wall or wake up in the hospital.”
Regardless of last year, Frijns said it was a good track to drive on in practice but is hoping for a better performance this year.
“Let sees if luck is on our side this year,” he said.
Frijns is confident he has a capable team to compete for a podium but does not want to fly halfway across the world again to just crash out again.
