One of three major races to be held on the iconic circuit, the Bathurst 12 Hour, is rapidly becoming one of the most significant events on the international motor sport calendar.
It has a massive field of national and international drivers, who are all vying for a spot on the podium after a grueling 12 hours of racing.
For some teams, performing well in this race is crucial, as it’s the opening round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
The series was introduced in 2016 make the most of the world’s best GT races.
With so much at stake, the teams embarking on the entire championship have sent their top cars, top drivers and top pit crews along.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said this race will put Bathurst on the international stage, as race fans around the globe tune in to watch.
“Last weekend it was Daytona, the weekend before it was Dubai and this weekend it’s Bathurst,” he said.
“Throughout the motor racing world, right throughout the world, people will be knowing the name Bathurst.”
In Australia, people will be able to watch the full 12 hours of racing on free-to-air television channel 7Mate.

Those located outside of Australia can stream the race live on the Bathurst 12 Hour website and also have access to live timing.
International drivers have also noticed how much the event’s reputation has grown.
Los Angeles-based driver Patrick Long, who will be behind the wheel of a Porche 991 GT3R for Competition Motorsports, said both people in the industry and fans want to experience it.
“I think this race has just been growing year after year and the following is immense on a global scale,” he said.
“The level of drivers and teams, the media coverage, obviously the TV package, has allowed lots of viewers around the world to tune in.
“Even if they’re not able to come to Bathurst, they understand the tradition of this race track and this area, and ultimately everybody wants to race and win here, but even just to follow it is pretty special.”
