He wants his team to be crowned the 2018 Rugby League Commonwealth Championships victors.
To be staged at Moreton Bay on February 23-24, the nine-a-side format tournament will see Donald’s Jillaroos trying to better their Commonwealth rivals.
Having won the Auckland Nines last year, Donald knows he has the talent at his disposal to succeed in this fast-paced league challenge.
“We’ll be taking 15 of the Jillaroos there to play against five other nations and we’re really excited about that on the back of the nines success last year in New Zealand,” Donald told NRL.com.
Aside from that tournament and Tests against fierce rivals the Kiwi Ferns later in the year, Donald is excited about the new National Championships which starts in August.
While the six NRL clubs which will participate have not yet been revealed, Donald feels Australia has the depth of talent to make the competition a success.
“National Championships, [it provides] lots of opportunities for women to play the game with an NRL premiership announced for women later in the year,” he said.
“We're going to need potentially 100-150 players at the end of the year to participate in this competition.
“In terms of the interest so far, we are confident that there are lots of players and athletes that want to be involved. I think with what happened last year we've seen what standards we need to get to and improvements we can make every 12 months.
“On the back of last year's World Cup success and how many people followed that and the success the girls have had over the past 12 months, we're looking forward to an exciting year.”
This Friday the Jillaroos hopefuls will attend a selection camp at Runaway Bay.
From that he will select a 40-player squad.
“That will be our first look at probably the best 50-60 girls in the country,” Donald said.
“We will do our best to make sure the top 40 is the best in the country.”
