IT may be 65 years since they said “I do”, but John Woodward says his wife Margaret is just as beautiful now as they day he met her.
The love story of Margaret and John commenced way back in 1950, they were at the demonstration school dance.
He crossed the floor to introduce himself and ask for a dance. She said it was love at first sight.
Margaret was just 16 years old when she met 20-year-old John, but says she knew he was the one for her and three years later they married.
“I remember how beautiful she was when she came into the church,” Mr Woodward said as they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Valentine’s Day.
Mrs Woodward said she remembers their wedding day was full of joy.

“My Dad gave me away and I had my two sisters and cousin as bridesmaids,” she said.
Mr Woodward said his wife’s “attitude and love for me” has never wavered.
When asked how she felt 65 years since their marriage, Mrs Woodward smiled and replied: “I just love him”.
The couple have four children – Vicki, Stephen, Glenn and Kimm. They also have 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
“I’m just so happy that we’ve got our children and grandchildren, having children makes a marriage,” Mrs Woodward said.
The couple’s other great love was their caravan holidays which included crossing the Nullarbor Plains five times.
