Redbacks chased down the Colts’ total of 142 with four wickets in hand, consolidating their spot at the top of the table with just one round remaining.
Rory Daburger (26) and Matt Willis (16) helped push Redbacks into triple figures before Mick Tobin’s timely middle order knock of 41 took his side to a first innings victory.
The job wasn’t done for Bathurst City once they reached the target.
Returning players Mark Day (40) and Trent Hemsworth (64 not out) were hard to contain.
Day and Hemsworth were substituted into the team at positions eight and nine in the order, with Redbacks hoping the pair could rise to the occasion in the event of a middle order collapse.
Even with the first innings wrapped up the Redbacks duo were eager to remain in at the crease and keep piling on the damage.
Redbacks declared at 9-262.
Dave Henderson, Dave Rogerson, Dan Casey and Matt Kelly each picked up two wickets for Colts during a tough day in the field.
Colts went back into bat at the day’s end with Pat Hill scoring a quick fire 29 at opener.
Rogerson had his first attempt at opening the order and was the next best batsmen with 15 runs.
Colts made their way to 4-77 in their second innings before play came to a close.
Ben Orme picked up four wickets in as many overs to finish with figures of 4-44.
Redbacks captain Willis said the player substitutions worked a treat for his side.
“We knew we’d have a slightly weaker team with the bat during the opening week so those changes worked out well,” he said.
“Rory and I got us off to a steady but slow start. Rory’s still a young player and for him to get 26 out there for several hours was a big effort. He made them work hard for his wicket.
“Mick Tobin was amazing with his 41. He got us past the total and got out just after we passed it.
“Mark Day and Hemsy did a great job at the bottom of the order.”
Redbacks doubled their number of wins over Colts this season after taking out the one-day fixture.
Bathurst City will now be almost certain to secure another minor premiership while for Colts the loss means they can still miss out on the finals, due to Centennials Bulls taking down St Pat’s Old Boys.
Redbacks play Rugby Union in the last round while Colts face Pat’s.
